Spicing up Your Room with Bed Canopies
Canopy beds add a touch of glamour and drama to every room. Four poster beds, canopy beds or regular beds, with canopies hanging over them from the ceiling, create an exquisite look that would match any interior design. Some would think that a canopy bed would overwhelm the design of the room and make it look dated. While this may seem true, these beds will make your room look beautiful if you know how to pick the right furniture and use the right accessory and beddings.
If you have a small room, you can use a canopy bed that is almost as high as the ceiling with the bed located in the corner. This will maximize the space and allow the bed to blend with the room. It gives an illusion that it is attached to the walls and ceiling, making your room look spacious. If your bed has drapes that go all the way to the floor and can fully cover the bed, you can “hide” the bed during the daytime.
For hardwood canopy beds, you can show off the dark wood by using other furniture with matching colors. Dark colored dressers and wardrobes go perfectly with the dark color of the headboard and the bed posts. You can accentuate the room by using antique lamps and beveled mirror frames. To add more storage, you can put a small wooden chest at the foot of the bed.
If you want an inexpensive design idea, you can purchase or create the bedding, pillow cases and drapes that would match the motif of your room. If you have the ability and time to create your own, it would be your best option since you get to choose the patterns or design styles that would best suit your taste. It is also cheaper than purchasing a complete set from a home furnishing stores.
