Tips for installing 24 inch rims

It is imperative that you buy 24 inch rims that are right for your vehicle. Some wheels are made specifically for certain types of vehicles, if you do not know if a particular set of rims is made for your vehicle, then ask. Tire rims can be purchased either at an auto parts store or online via an online retailer. However, you may find that online retailers have a much larger selection than a regular automotive parts store. You can easily compare prices through online shopping and the rims will be shipped to your home. You can then either install them yourself, or take them to an auto shop and pay them to install it for you.

If you’re going to install it yourself, here are some tips:

Determine the size of the rim you want to install on your vehicle. Although the trend in recent years has been to accommodate the largest wheel and tire package possible, keep in mind that this is not always the best idea. A wheel that is too large can make the steering heavier, negatively impact fuel economy, cause separation problems with the vehicle and look downright silly.

Make sure you get the correct profile of bolts and offset. The bolt pattern may be four, five or even a six-foot pattern, so make sure you buy the right one. It is also very important to buy a properly adjusted wheel, which will affect whether the wheel fits properly. The offset is how far in or out of the wheel is under suspension. If it’s not right it can cause offset tires rubbing against the bodywork or suspension.

Loosen the lug nuts for the old wheel. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and finish removing the old wheels. Install the new wheel and tire package. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Check the set of tires by sliding your hand between the tire and the opening. The tire should not touch the body of the vehicle anywhere. If it does, you may be able to get away with rolling the fender a little to make room for the wheel. This should be done by someone familiar with the process to avoid damage to your vehicle.
