Perhaps one of the reasons why Airsoft has become so popular is due to the realism the game is trying to portray. Helmets
Unlike those worn in battle, helmets that are designed for Airsoft skirmishes are made from plastic making it lightweight. It protects only the upper part of the head leaving the nape open. They fit most adults with an adjustable chin strap for added sturdiness. It doesn’t come with mask for eye protection.
Mask
The mask on the other hand, is a full face protection gear. It provides front and rear head protection and comes with goggles. Some designs of goggles are scratchproof and has anti-fog features for damp weather. Wearing masks sometimes muffles the sound around the field making it hard to detect those sneaking around for a quick attack.
Vest
Vests are mostly used for backup gear instead of protection. A standard vest can have 2 to 4 magazine pouches, a radio pouch, zippered pocket for maps, and flashlight pockets. Some more expensive vests feature an extra pistol holster and additional pouches and pockets for spare batteries. Most vests are fully adjustable in girth and length. It also comes in different colors to fit tactical advantages.
Holster
Another Airsoft accessory, and probably the most important, is the pistol holster. It holds a single backup pistol for quick counter attack in situations where continuous firing is a necessity. There are three types of pistol holsters — shoulder, waist and leg holsters.
Others
Red dot lasers are attached on weapons to increase its accuracy.
Scopes are mostly used on sniper rifles for a more accurate shot.
Flashlights are, of course, required for dark — mostly indoor — battlefields.
Pellet loaders are used for quick restocking of magazines.
Bipods are attached to rifles and machine guns for a more steady aim.
