Motorcycles are extremely maneuverable and dangerous if you are not careful. One of the most important pieces of safety gear is your motorcycle helmet.  Always make sure that you buy a proper fitting motorcycle helmet. Avoid retro-motorcycle helmets, which are also known as old-school helmets. These helmets do not work as well and are prone to slipping off during motorcycle accidents. You want to make sure you buy a full face motorcycle helmet. Full face motorcycle helmets work much better as they protect your head from all angles. These helmets also will not come off during a motorcycle crash, or fall. A properly fitted helmet should move no more than 1 cm while your head is inside the encapsulated liner.

The reason many people prefer using half helmets is because the fact that they are more comfortable, however this comfort comes at a risk. The risk is that the helmet will come off and cause more damage than if you are not wearing any helmet at all. Keep in mind that most injuries occur to the head from physical impact. You do not want to risk your life, with a badly fitted motorcycle helmet. A lot of times according to insurance companies, many cars do not look for motorcycles in their blind spots. Keep in mind that even other motorcycle riders tend to have the same driving habit.

Make sure that you are going to buy a new helmet, by a helmet which is brightly colored. You want to buy one with other drivers can see. Color such as Bright yellow Bright Orange are great for making sure other people can see you on the road or highway. Avoid buying black helmets, as they blend into the environment very well. This is especially true during nighttime driving more visibility is decreased exponentially.
